And now it rains
Lockdown has definitely been made more bearable by the fact that for the past four weeks we've had beautiful warm sunny weather. But no more. April showers may be late, but they've arrived with a vengeance and the foreseeable future is a wet one. I face the deluge with some optimism that there will be fewer walkers out (the non-walking, be-legginged fatties will stay indoors) so Dolly and I will have more space for her to hoon round for a while. Having said that, she looks less than impressed at the prospect of getting soaked out there.
In other news the boys are back to 'school', which for Eddie and I means constant nagging at them to wash, work, tidy up, eat properly etc. If we weren't on at them all the time, they wouldn't do anything at all, but it's very difficult when you're trying to work at the same time. Picking shoes up off the floor appears to be a particular challenge, and William's dressing gown has been likened to Dr Strange's cape. It has chosen him and now follows him everywhere, waiting patiently on floor or chair for him if left for any reason. Sometimes overnight.
Last week, a friend and I had 'Deckchair Coffee'. She came over with her thermos and I set up two deckchairs in the sunshine on our front lawn. We sat and chatted (at a safe distance) for about an hour, lemon squares equi-distant in a ramekin between us. What a refreshing change to see a real person (NOT ON ZOOM) that I'm not related to.
All in all, it's a pretty boring existence, but as always I am so grateful to my friends at work who keep me going and make me smile. Last night the boys and I filmed our own version of Amarillo a la Peter Kay for a Cisco version my team's going to put together and share on Thursday. We did a little routine in our bee suits and sent it over. I can't wait to see the full compilation and take a look at what everyone else came up with. These moments of light make a big difference when life feels like a slog.
