The Quack

Will and I went to see Dr Endersby today to tell him our news. He was thrilled! It was so nice being able to tell someone, and the reaction was wonderful to watch. All seems fine, but we can apparantly now have a dating scan before 12 weeks which would be good from a peace of mind perspective and also because we have no idea when we actually conceived! Janie called last night to tell us that she and Ian are expecting their first baby on 22nd August. I am so thrilled for them, it's wonderful news! Of course I was busting to say something, but didn't - it's Janie's moment and very special for her. Having said that we'll probably tell them next weekend, purely because we're going up for dinner and I know they won't buy any excuses. Added to which I don't really want to lie to my friends, it's exciting for everyone and nice to know Janie and I'll be going through our pregnancies together. It's a very comforting thought for me, it was so n...

Worried Mummy

Went downstairs to have my breakfast this morning while Eddie got ready, only to hear the most almighty thump from above. Raced upstairs already knowing what had happened, but not wanting to believe it - Will had fallen off the bed. He's done it before on my watch and it's the absolute worst. The shrieks of pain and fear alone are enough to make your heart stop and the poor little mite ended up puking half his milk. Eddie tried to cuddle him and ended up covering him in shaving foam which escalated the shrieks further. In the end we managed to calm him down and, neurotic Mother that I am, I ended up poring over Penelope Leach yet again to check for symptoms of concussion/fractured skull/internal bleeding etc... Fortunately I left Will woofing down his porridge, so have to assume that order has been restored. I could hardly bear to tear myself away but as Eddie quite rightly pointed out I was only upsetting Will by being so clingy. He is going to have the most enormous lump on ...

Mission Accomplished

Back home safe and sound after a thoroughly successful and enjoyable trip. Istanbul is stunning, the team were excellent and the whole event went swimmingly. I felt pretty tired but that's par for the course now. Had a bit of a wobble on the wine front when the guys from Live bought a bottle to go with dinner on Thursday night. I decided it would look very odd not to have anything at all, so sipped genteely at half a glass of red and felt terribly guilty. Have subsequently decided to look at it as a healthy option for my blood pressure. Arun also poured me a glass the following day on the jet home, and I managed to ignore it for 2 hours before sneaking off to throw it down the loo. Gutted. All fine at home, Eddie did a sterling job and I think has more of a realisation of just how much I do around the house! I missed them both terribly, thank goodness there are no more trips coming up any time soon.
