Nights out are like Buses

We don't go out for months on end and then suddenly we've found ourselves at a different restaurant every night. Well, not quite - but it certainly feels that way. We had John and Helen to stay last week and treated them, and Daddy, to lunch at the Peat Spade on the Tuesday while the boys were at nursery (I still feel guilty about enjoying myself without them...), followed by a lovely tootle round the river.

Thursday was my birthday and after being showered with a heap of presents, Eddie treated me to supper at my absolute favourite restaurant The Harrow at Little Bedwyn. It didn't disappoint, I do love that place.

On Saturday we had a post-Brittany debrief with Anthony and Beverly, whose house we stayed in, but as we couldn't get a babysitter, they came over armed with an entire 3 course supper! Fantastic, and enjoyed in the garden on a balmy summers evening with some Breton wine to wash it down with.

Feeling slightly jaded by now, Sunday was spent trying to wake ourselves up in the pool over at MPs which was just cold enough to do the job while the boys splashed about happily in wet suits. The joy of being in a private pool; I spent most of my time trying to do the biggest Bomb I could. Will was unimpressed, but JimBob giggled so at least one member of my audience was supportive (I clearly haven't lost my touch).

Finally last night we hit The Red House in Highclere, our newest watering hole, now owned by Simon Liquorice. A great time all round with Sonya, Richard and our new friends Mark and Saffie Holmes who run the polo yard. Much too much Pinot Grigio drunk, but it was such fun who cares :)

Fortunately it's Tuesday again today and Eddie and I have had the luxury of heading off to the cinema - in the morning, no less - to watch 'The Dark Knight'. 3 hours in a dark room clutching hot Americanos was just what the doctor ordered and the film was brilliant.

Now it's time to make the most of what is Eddie's last week at home on sabbatical before he returns to the coalface next Monday. We are bracing ourselves for joint shocks to the system!

Lowly said…
were you wearing your trucker swimming hat when you bombed? i suspect that is what made JimBob laugh.

I still have YET to go to 'The Harrow' ...and we must go and drink scrumpy at the Red House.
